Gay rights activists, topless protesters greet Putin

Three members of the women's rights group Femen, which has staged protests against Russia's detention of the feminist punk band Pussy Riot around Europe, disrupted his visit to a trade fair in the German city of Hanover focusing on Russian business.
They stripped to the waist and shouted slogans calling the Russian leader a "dictator" before being covered up and bundled away by security men.
"Regarding this performance, I liked it," grinned Putin at a joint news conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, adding that it had helped to promote the trade fair.

Pussy Riot’s Message Spreading

It may be that for now leaders like women baring their breasts as they unite to draw attention to injustice of the detention of Pussy Riot, and other injustices as well. Two of that feminist punk rock band has been jailed in one of Russia’s most notorious prisons for protesting the unholy alliance of church and state in Russia. Imagine the day when millions of women on the streets and in churches all over the world are revealing their breast in protest of injustice. Those in power will not be grinning in delight then; what fools they make of themselves now. Reminiscent of “Lysistrata”.
Women willing to risk baring their breasts are engaging in dangerous behavior that even can result in death by stoning in many cultures. In this country women are not allowed to breast-feed in public and are made to feel guilty and awkward about doing so. God forbid; such is the hidden power of the female breast revealed. It is not accident of mythology, the great stories that help us find our way, that the goddess of justice is portrayed with one or both breasts revealed. It is no accident that during the George W. Bush era the naked breasts of the statue of Justice behind the podium from which the attorney general spoke, were covered by a purple drape. Supposedly because it was an embarrassment to see the breasts of the statue of justice on TV, but the real reason, I believe, was to hid from her view the terrible lies and crimes of injustice spoken in her presence.
When women understand and unite behind the power of their breasts revealed to expose injustice, patriarchy will at last be faced down and exposed for what it is – a system of beliefs that may have served humankind for ill or good for the last several thousand years, but it is now time to put that way of being human aside. It is time for full equality of all humans regardless of gender and sexual orientation. For when this occurs a more just humanity becomes possible, patriarchy transforming.
